Medical Treatment

The Ontario government has passed legislation allowing Optometrists to now both treat and manage eye diseases with Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA)

After many years, the Ontario government has passed legislation allowing Optometrists to now both treat and manage eye diseases with Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA). Many of Ontario’s Optometrists have held the pharmaceutical qualifications for several years, but were waiting for the Ontario government’s approval. All of the doctors at our office are licensed for TPAs.

This addition to our scope of practice enables us to provide even better care to our patients. Our ability to treat ocular problems, such as glaucoma and eye infections, means faster and better care for you! It also means that our doctors will be taking even more continuing education courses to ensure that they are current on all of the new medications available. Certainly, some of our patients will still need to see their specialists and referrals will be made to ophthalmology, whenever necessary.

We are committed to embrace this added responsibility in our continued effort to provide the highest level of care for our patients.
